2022 Ford Transit Connect Review

When you need to transport passengers or heavy cargo from station to station, it’s helpful to have a vehicle designed explicitly for that purpose. The 2022 Ford Transit Connect is just that vehicle, and at LaFontaine Ford of Flushing, we’ve written up a Transit Connect review to help you better understand what it can do for you.

We look forward to hearing back from our friends and neighbors in and around Flushing, Flint, and Swartz Creek, Michigan.

2022 Ford Transit Connect Engine Specs

2022 Ford Transit Connect: Power & Performance

It’s important to know what kind of power you’ll command in a vehicle that can operate as either a passenger or professional vehicle. The standard engine that comes equipped is the 2.0L GDI I-4 engine, paired with an 8-speed SelectShift® automatic transmission. Included is also a heavy-duty battery: 80-amp/800-CCA. In terms of power, it generates 162 horsepower and 144 lb-ft of torque.

That translates into stellar fuel economy. The EPA-estimated MPG of the Transit Connect is 24 city/28 highway MPG, meaning you’ll make fewer stops en route to your destination(s).

2022 Ford Transit Connect Interior Space

2022 Ford Transit Connect: Interior Dimensions

An equally important factor when you’re using the Transit Connect as a passenger van is the allotment of space. It has three rows of seating which amounts to 167.1 cubic feet of passenger volume. However, the generous offering of room is sure to make every passenger happy and comfortable. To be more exact, here are the solid numbers for each of the three rows:

  • Headroom: 46.9 inches/45.7 inches/41.9 inches
  • Legroom: 42.3 inches/37.6 inches/35 inches
  • Hip Room: 54.2 inches/58.3 inches/47 inches
  • Shoulder Room: 57.6 inches/58.5 inches/56.3 inches

Your passengers will be able to stretch out and relax on the journey you’re leading. Now, as for cargo, there are two different ways of focusing on it. To keep it simple, we’ve focused on volumes:

  • Cargo volume behind 3rd row (LWB Wagon with seat moved to most rear position): 16.3 cubic feet
  • Cargo volume behind 3rd row (LWB Wagon with seat moved to most forward position): 24.9 cubic feet
  • Cargo volume behind 2nd row: 60.1 cubic feet
  • Cargo volume behind 1st row with 2nd- and 3rd-row seats folded: 106 cubic feet

2022 Ford Transit Connect Safety

2022 Ford Transit Connect: Smart Features

A major smart feature in this model year is the introduction of Ford Co-Pilot360™ Technology. This suite of driver assistance includes BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) with Cross-Traffic Alert, Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane-Keeping System, Rear View Camera, and Auto High-Beam Headlamps. You can see that Ford Co-Pilot360® is an incredible package of tech, but the Transit Connect offers some features all its own, such as:

  • Adaptive Cruise Control
  • Enhanced Active Park Assist
  • Forward and Reverse Sensing Systems
  • EcoCoach
